Toddler Fatally Shot In Sandy Springs
First responders tried life-saving measures on the 2-year-old child, but police say the child was pronounced dead at the scene in Fulton.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A 2-year-old child is dead after being shot Wednesday in Sandy Springs, police say.
Officers responded around 2 p.m. to the 2600 block of Sandalwood Drive after receiving a report that the child suffered a gunshot injury, police said.
When they arrived, emergency medical workers tried life-saving measures on the child; but, police said the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was not identified.

Details were limited, and police did not say what led to the fatal shooting. Police also did not identify a shooting suspect or say if charges have been officially filed.

"Additional information will be released as it becomes available and when appropriate to do so without jeopardizing the investigation," police said in a news release.
There is not a current threat to the community, police said.
The deadly shooting came on the same day Gwinnett County Police say a 4-year-old boy shot himself in the hand in the 3400 block of Braselton Highway in Dacula. The boy's injuries were not life threatening, police said.
