Veterans Day Tribute Returns To Sandy Springs

The city's seventh annual event will be held Nov. 11 at the Veteran's Memorial located at the Concourse Office Park.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Next month, the city of Sandy Springs will host its 7th Annual Veterans Day Tribute.

The city's event, which will be held to honor those who've served our country, is set for Friday, Nov. 11 at the Veteran’s Memorial located at the Concourse Office Park next to the Queen Building (Building Five).

The program begins at 11:30 a.m.

U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CWO5) Edward Harman is the keynote speaker. CWO5 Harman enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1987. In 1990, he deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

In 2003, CWO5 Harman was activated in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and deployed to Fallujuh, Iraq in 2005. Harman also served in Haditha, Iraq and Brazil.

For his service, CWO5 Harman has received a Purple Heart, the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star and the combat action ribbon.

The Sandy Springs Police Honor Guard, along with Sandy Springs Fire Rescue Captain Mark Ware and Lieutenant Rodney Brooks of the Henry County Fire Department are among the event participants.

Former WSB-TV news anchor and a former First Lieutenant, U.S. Army Infantry, John Pruitt will also return as master of ceremonies.

The event is free and open to the public, and parking will be available in Concourse parking deck six. The memorial at the office park is located at 5 Concourse Parkway.
