The organization hopes the calendar will raise awareness of local streams, these valuable, yet fragile resources residents have in their backyards.

Earlier this year, a small group of Leadership Sandy Springs’ Class of 2015 members partnered with WASS on their community volunteer projects to help increase awareness of the Alliance.

The group included Jack Misiura, Ed Steele, Cheryl Lietz, Sean O’Toole and Anne Boatwright. After taking a few months to get to know everyone’s strengths and needs, Leadership Sandy Springs and the Watershed Alliance decided that a photo contest would be a constructive, collaborative project.

The photos feature pictures from the streams in Sandy Springs’ six watersheds. Proceeds from the calendar and note cards sales will support WASS’ many community projects.

The creative, artistic entries showcase the quiet tranquility of the streams that weave around Sandy Springs. Residents fortunate enough to live near one of these streams will appreciate the waterscapes captured in the photographs.

Calendars and note cards displaying the winners’ works will be available for purchase at the reception. Residents are invited to attend and congratulate the winners and learn the stories behind these serene and fun photos.

Morgan Falls Overlook Park is located at 200 Morgan Falls Road.
