The Weber School To Change Name To Honor Late Co-Founder
The institution next week will hold a ceremony officially changing its name to The Felicia Penzell Weber Jewish Community High School.

The Doris and Alex Weber Jewish Community High School, a Sandy Springs-based institution serving students from all Jewish backgrounds, will officially change its name to honor its co-founder.
The school recently announced plans to change its name to The Felicia Penzell Weber Jewish Community High School. The renaming will take place at a ceremony on the Weber campus Nov. 25.
The new name honors co-founder Felicia Penzell Weber (z”l), who passed away on Oct. 7, 2013. Felicia Weber’s influence “helped define the Weber School’s philosophical approach and forge the strong foundation that serves its students so well today,” the school said.

“Weber would not be what it is today without Felicia,” said Tonia Sellers, president of The Weber School Board of Trustees. “Her early support – both visionary and financial – allowed the school to take root and grow. She would be proud to see the once fledging institution turn eighteen this year, see the strength of its academics, the vibrancy of its Jewish life, the success of its students and graduates.”
The community high school provides a rigorous and dynamic college preparatory curriculum in general and Jewish studies, along with co-curricular programming in fine and performing arts, athletics and student activities.

“Felicia Weber represented the current and future direction of our high school,” said Head of School Rabbi Ed Harwitz. “As we prepare our students for a 21st century education, we will always remember Felicia’s contribution to Weber’s mission and vision: embracing tradition while advancing innovation.”
Joe Weber added over 600 families have experienced Felicia Weber’s “passion for a great Jewish community high school first hand.”
“We are honored to know that future Weber students and their families will continue to feel Felicia’s impact on the campus she loved so much, as graduates of The Felicia Penzell Weber Jewish Community High School,” he added.
