Wellness event series aims to empower women

"Rise Into Wellness" focuses on mind, body & soul

Tonight marks the first in a three-month series of wellness events aimed at creating a movement among women to energize each other from the inside out.

"Rise Into Wellness" is a three-part series hosted in Roswell by LiebePR at Circle & Moon. Tonight's event will focus on the mind, because according to Tia Greene, owner of LiebePR, that is where wellness begins.

A 30-35 minute meditation session hosted by professionals of Lavandula Skin & Yoga Studio will lead attendees in deep meditation and positive flows, followed by time for questions and answers.

Those who are interested in attending the free event can sign up through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/r... Though there is no fee to attend, participants can contribute to the donation-driven event, from which proceeds will benefit the Drake House, a nonprofit which serves homeless women and children in North Fulton.

Positive vibes start from within

When people think of negative thoughts or think they are unhappy, they are likely to be unhappy, Greene said. However, if they think positively and believe they are happy, they are likely to feel more satisfied.

"It starts with your mind," Greene said.

Greene said she selected Circle+Moon as a partner for the event because she is eager to create a sisterhood- a network of women who will lift each other up and spread positive energy. Circle+ Moon is an all female work and community space in the heart of Downtown Historic Roswell. Its mission is to support and empower our local female entrepreneurs.

"I feel that people in today's day and age -- with all the social media and online activity -- are not taking care of themselves," Greene said. That's why this month, Greene said the emphasis is internal, to establish focus, mindfulness, and positive thoughts. Next month's event on Aug. 30 will focus on the body, featuring several fitness gurus who will demonstrate moves to shape your body for desired results. This will be followed by

mini-facials at a beauty bar, where experts of Lavandula Skin & Yoga will offer tips on how attendees can create a DIY spa experience at home. Finally, on Sept. 20, participants will feed their souls by learning how to shop for food based on what is in season and supporting local farmers and shops.

"We will have a guest chef join us to discuss several ways of adding healthy food to your daily culinary experience," Greene said of the September event.

She hopes to make this a biannual event series - one in the fall, and one in the spring, from February-April. Often, people focus on their health and well-being in focused spurts at different points of the year, Greene said, after which, the fervor "dies down." Instead, Greene hopes to inspire women to sustain that energy and take care of themselves consistently throughout the year.

"I want this to become a movement, a sisterhood," she said.
