- Nov. 15 – Hooray for Hollywood! With Cecil Welch and Friends
- Dec. 13 – The UGA Accidentals
- Jan.17, 2016 – The Athens Tango Project
- Feb. 21, 2016 – Karla Harris Sings the Dave and Iola Brubeck Songbook with The Ted Howe Trio
Hooray for Hollywood! With Cecil Welch and Friends will be performing Academy Award-winning film themes from the 1930s to the modern era.
He brings the music to life with anecdotes and stories of the melodies, lyrics and people that made these classic theme songs to remember.
The Dec. 13 installment welcomes the season with a holiday show performed by The UGA Accidentals, a 40-year a capella tradition from the University of Georgia.
The Accidentals have competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella finals twice in the past five years, showing off their southern charm, snazzy dress and pitch perfect singing ability. Their energizing performance will include holiday favorites, classics and a few surprises.
When a group of international graduate students in music at UGA pooled their talents and cultures to form a band, The Athens Tango Project was born, taking listeners on a delightfully different trip to another part of the world.
The band’s current members include an upright bass player from Argentina, a pianist from Brazil, a vocalist from Nicaragua and a violinist from Poland. Their music is inspiring and authentic as they share a passion for music that is rooted in other cultures, a great fit for the increasingly diverse community of Sandy Springs.
The series will conclude with Karla Harris Sings the Dave & Iola Brubeck Songbook with The Ted Howe Trio.
Ted Howe and Karla Harris return to Heritage Winter Classics, bringing something rarely heard in shows and celebrating the music of jazz pianist Dave Brubeck: Lyrics! In this special tribute, Harris performs vocal versions of Brubeck’s iconic instrumentals, singing words written by a highly talented lyricist who also had the closest insight into Brubeck’s life and work — his wife of 70 years, Iola Brubeck.
Ted Howe, a master performer, composer, arranger, producer, and teacher will be playing a Yamaha Grand Piano courtesy of Piano Distributors Atlanta.
Heritage Winter Classics will take place in Heritage Hall on the lower level of the Heritage Sandy Springs administrative offices at 6110 Blue Stone Road in Sandy Springs. Admission is $5 for members of Heritage Sandy Springs and $10 for non-members.
Doors will open at 4 p.m., performances will be held 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
