Assault

  • Officers were called to an assault at Concourse Parkway and Hammond Drive around 4:30 a.m. on the
19th. They located a 48-year-old woman who had a severe laceration on her hand and bicep. She told the officers that she was walking through an office complex at 980 Hammond Drive, and stopped to sit on the curb, when she encountered a black male who told her he was a security guard. The man then made sexual advances towards her, which she resisted, resulting in a struggle. She was cut with what she described as a switchblade. She was taken by EMS to North Fulton Hospital.

Fraud

  • A 45-year-old man reported that he checked his credit report and found some suspicious transactions on it. Someone used his personal information to obtain a $12,000 loan, an $1,800 loan and set up accounts with Comcast and Verizon.
  • An 84-year-old man reported, through a relative, that he believes someone in the assisted-living facility has changed his address and re-routed his social security checks to a fraudulent account with another bank.
  • A man reported that he bank notified him that someone used his Visa card for $20 at Quick Trip and
$292 the second time. Rose: Remember that you will be able to restore your money and credit after you obtain a police report. Use that case number as reference when you contact the company that your information was used on. Large corporations will normally have a fraud unit. Be persistent and provide that incident report to get the ball rolling.
  • A 44-year old man said he checked his credit report and found an open Verizon account for $3,378 that he did not open.
  • A 51-year-old man said that he received a credit card from Barclay Bank that he didn’t apply for. No
    charges were made on it.
  • A woman contacted police and informed them she received an e-mail from Apple regarding a $1,600
MacBook that she ordered and was to be delivered to the business address but in the name of a person whom she did not know. She informed them she didn’t place the order. They requested she document the fraud with the police and send them a report. Apparently the transaction was made on the company account with a debit card number.
  • A 33-year-old man said he checked his credit report and found 172 inquiries on his credit from Captial
One, Discover, and Premier Bank, none of which he authorized or had prior knowledge of.

Other Things

  • 2090 Dunwoody Club Drive, 30350, 10/20: Around 8:30 p.m. cops were called to the shopping center regarding shots fired. The officers spoke to the owner of the liquor store as well as another witness and determined the following: A female came into the store, stole a bottle of liquor, put it in her purse, with the intention of stealing it. The store owner blocked the door but she ran towards it. He went behind the counter and retrieved his pistol and chased her into the parking lot where he fired warning shots while yelling “Give it back!” The woman, white female, about 5’7” with blond hair, kept running. The investigation ended with the store owner being arrested for the gross negligence of shooting the weapon with several stores open and patrons walking in and out.
  • Cops were called to Pitts Road on Oct. 22, to speak with a guy who said he and other guy were going
to a house party but the other guy didn’t want to go so they argued. One said he was going to shoot the other so they had that going on too. One of the guy’s cousin got into it and pulled his cousin away from the other guy and then the other guy left. Later, the officer was called back because the other guy was sending threatening text messages...and so it goes.

Arrests

  • 4500 block of Lake Forrest Drive, 30328, 10/20: A resident called the police while watching a video of a man in the driveway of the home, walking around the house, knocking on the doors. The officer arrived and located the man in a Toyota pickup truck. He interviewed the driver who said he was with Uber Eats and his GPS had taken him to this location. The officer checked the man on GCIC and found that he was wanted in Cobb County for larceny. He was arrested and later turned over to Cobb. Rose: Nice Job Sir. The call resulted in the officer checking the guy who had a past warrant for theft.
  • 6260 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, 30328, 10/22: A staff member at Laquinta Inn called the police shortly after 2 a.m. and reported that a man and woman, accompanied by a dog, was in the lobby being rude to customers and staff. The officer met the pair, requested identification, and explained that the staff had requested them to leave. The man (okay here is where I guess he just decided not to think anymore), who was drinking a beer, said he was not going to present identification and that the officer would have to take him to jail. The man wanted to light a cigarette, but the officer told him they would need to continue this conversation outside because there was no smoking permitted in the lobby. The man started cursing, telling the officer that he wasn’t going to talk to him like (insert “N” word here,) and said (now I guess) he wasn’t going to jail. The officer goes hands on here, to escort him and the man cursed, then took a fighting position. One Taser deployment later, the man was on the ground and the officer was attempting to handcuff him when the woman, yelling for the man to get up and run (obviously she’s never been tasered), put the dog -- a German Shepherd mix who was barking at the officer -- up near the two men struggling. Now the officer is trying to cuff the guy and shake off the dog who was trying to bite his leg. A second and third officer arrived and the woman was restrained. She resisted by wrapping her purse around her arms and lying on her arms, refusing to cooperate. She was cuffed and also arrested.
  • If you were on GA -400 south Thursday around 2:30 p.m., and saw all the police cars, and the stacked up traffic near the Hammond exit, you can thank the newly divorced couple for a rolling domestic quarrel that involved the man, in his car, chasing the woman, in hers, and then bashing her passenger window with a bat. The man was arrested but not before screwing up traffic — just before the regularly scheduled screwed up traffic. He was arrested.
  • A juvenile, suspected in a number of burglaries and attempts over the past months, was the subject of a “suspicious person” call on the 27th around dusk. The resident called and said she saw a male behind her condo building. He was described as 5’10”, young black male, grey sweatshirt and jeans. An officer spotted him and the suspect ran from the 6925 Roswell Road area across the street where he was run down by another officer and secured. He was arrested for loitering and prowling.
