Woman Charged In Hit-And-Run Of Sandy Springs Police Officer

The officer was struck by a passenger vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on Roswell Road near Morgan Falls Road.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A Sandy Springs woman has been charged with striking a police officer with her vehicle during a traffic stop late last week.

Sandy Springs detectives have arrested Melanie Moser, 47, and charged her with failing to comply with Georgia's Move Over Law and hit and run.

Just before 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, officer Leon Millholland was conducting a traffic stop in the right acceleration lane at 7840 Roswell Road when he was hit by a blue passenger vehicle.

The car was traveling southbound and after striking the officer, the driver allegedly continued towards Morgan Falls Road.

Milholland sustained minor injuries. Officers were able to track down the suspected vehicle on Barrington Hills Drive and took Moser into custody Jan. 18.
