Woman Stabbed To Death In Home; $10K Reward To Catch Killer
Kay Thomasson, 71, was found dead Wednesday, and her 2012 Kia Sorrento is nowhere to be found, Sandy Springs police said.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Sandy Springs police are hunting for the person who murdered a woman found dead inside her home Wednesday evening. The body of Kay Thomasson, 71, was found at 7 p.m. June 27 at the residence on Old Woodbine Road, which is located off Peachtree Dunwoody Road near Churchill Downs Road.
Sandy Springs police are treating the woman's death as a homicide, as she was found fatally stabbed at the scene. The Police Department also said victim's black 2012 Kia Sorrento was also stolen from the scene. The vehicle, which bears Georgia tag PWU1162, has been listed in a statewide database as stolen and connected to a homicide, the agency said. The Kia Sorrento has a trailer hitch attached to its rear and is similar to the photo below:

Sandy Springs police Sgt. Sam Worsham previously said officers were called to the scene by a family member after Thomasson missed an appointment she was scheduled to attend on Wednesday. However, Capt. Forrest Bohannon said late Thursday that investigators have learned that Thomasson was murdered "during the early morning hours of June 27."
