Assault

  • 500 block of Northridge Road, 30350, 8/28: The report reads that two men who share an apartment got into an argument. The report said party A said he was battered first but party B said he was battered first. Neither man looked to heavily battered. The battering began over an argument and accusation that one of the parties touched the other’s food. I’m not sure what they were having or if it was grilled or deep fried. The officer warned the battered duo if he were called back to the house regarding the battering, he would be angry.
  • 7000 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road, 30328, 8/31: A 53-year-old man said he picked up a friend to take her to her apartment. He was not that familiar with the directions and got lost. The passenger became angry and began hitting him, also known as battering him, on the head. This was confirmed by a witness. The suspect got out and was later picked up by another person. Cops went to her apartment but she was not there.
  • 200 block Johnson Ferry Road, 30328, 8/29: A 67-year-old man said he was doing engineer work for a business owner and on the 22nd of August, he discussed the need for more money to complete the work. He said the business owner became enraged and pushed him out of the office they were in and slammed the door. He said his hand was injured and since this incident he hasn’t slept well and now he had pain in his left arm.
  • 200 block of Hammond Drive, 30328, 8/29: Ironically, this occurred at the World Peace Café and is considered tofu-related. The employee and witnesses stated the following: A man and woman ordered a meal consisting of spring vegetable stir-fry, wonton soup and a dessert cup totaling $20. The couple waited outside for the food which was delivered to them. After they ate, the two came back inside and asked if the wontons had any tofu in them. The woman then began cursing and yelling at the employee. She pushed the employee and grabbed her around the throat, pushing her up against a wall. The man who accompanied the woman, ushered her out to the couple’s car and they left. Officers waited 30 minutes to see if they would return but they didn’t. It was not known if the wontons did in fact have tofu in them or why that angered the suspect.
  • Glenridge Connector and PDR, 30342, 8/30: A 60-year-old woman reported that she was on the way to a doctor’s appointment and exited 285 onto Glenridge Drive. As she moved over to the right lane, a silver car sped up as not to allow her to merge. She did and exited onto Glenride. When they stopped at the light, the silver car pulled up next to, and then ahead of her. The driver got out with what they described as a billy club and hit her window, top of the car, and then the trunk. He yelled at them and then re-entered his car and sped off. She got photos of the man and the car so there will be an investigation.

Fraud

  • A resident reported that someone accessed his banking information and organized a bank
transfer of $10,000 from a loan account into his checking account. The suspect then directed funds to be wired from that account to a LaQuinta Inn in Dublin. The man made a fake ID card to show identity consistent with and as the account holder.
  • A 51-year old man reported that someone used his information to apply for a $25,000 loan through Loan Depot online.

Other Things

  • Short version: This occurred at LA Fitness, one of the few reports that start out with “theft.” Two, then
three people got into an argument over who could use a gym workout machine. They told each other to “F—K off!” Blah, blah, blah, then later shook hands after the cops arrived and why exactly were we called there?
  • Cops were called to a store regarding two people who accused each other of stepping on the other’s foot while looking at books. The two were familiar with one another because they are in the used-book sales business and compete. Neither foot appeared injured and will not be classified as a “battered foot.”

Arrests

  • 9400 Roberts Drive, 30350, 8/28: Cops were called to an apartment just before 1 p.m. A woman at the apartment said she was physically attacked by a neighbor. She had a cut to her head. She told the officer that man came up from behind her, made a “hissing” sound, then, when she turned around, he punched her, causing her to hit the ground, then kicked her. Cops located the man who said she and her friends have burglarized his apartment in the past, although he admitted he never reported it. Based on that, he was arrested for the assault.
  • 1050 Hammond Drive, 30328, 8/31: Street crimes officers, following up on complaints of drug and prostitution activity spoke with a man who rented a room where the activity was supposed to be coming from. He was interviewed and gave permission for officers to search his hotel room. They asked him if he had any drugs on him being that the room smelled like marijuana. He said no. They found various items, baggies, scales, etc, that are consistent with drug dealing. On the man’s possession was a small amount of marijuana. The officers contacted two others in two different rooms who may have been involved with either the drugs and/or prostitution. They found crack pipes, cocaine hydrochloride bags, Molly bags, a gun, and some marijuana. All three persons were charged with disorderly conduct and false representation to a police officer. The gun wasn’t stolen so it was placed in the property room for safekeeping.
