SSU Day at St. Philip Is October 11th (savannahtribune.com) — Savannah residents are invited to Savannah State University Day at St. Philip Monumental AME Church on Sunday, October 11, at 10 a.m. on Jefferson Street, kicking off SSU Homecoming week. The service will feature SSU President Dr. Jermaine Whirl, the Wesleyan Gospel Choir, and special recognitions, with alumni and neighbors encouraged to attend in blue and orange.
2. Forsyth Farmers' Market brings family fun to Daffin Park picnic (wjcl.com) — Savannah families can head to Daffin Park this Sunday, Oct. 11, for Forsyth Farmers' Market's Fall Harvest Picnic, featuring local food, live music, and kids' activities. Proceeds support programs like 912 Food Farmacy and double SNAP benefits that expand access to fresh, locally grown food across Savannah. Tickets are $35 for adults, $15 for youths, with younger kids free.
3. Savannah Pride returns for its 27th year (wtoc.com) — Savannah's Pride Festival is returning to Forsyth Park on October 24, bringing thousands of people, more than 100 vendors, and a full day of celebration and community. Organizers are adding a sensory-conscious market to better welcome attendees with sensory needs, followed by entertainment hosted by Club One icons and a glow and foam party into the night.
4. Savannah Tech, USI launch drone training program (wtoc.com) — Savannah Technical College is launching a new 12-week drone training program with the Unmanned Safety Institute, giving local students and workers a path to FAA certification without leaving the region. Through hybrid classes and hands-on flights, participants can earn multiple industry-recognized safety credentials and prepare for professional drone careers in logistics, construction, public safety, and aviation.
5. Interchange Dedication Ceremony Honoring Rep. Edna Jackson Held (savannahtribune.com) — Savannah leaders recently gathered at St. Philip AME Church to dedicate the I-516 and Veterans Parkway interchange in honor of longtime public servant and former mayor Edna Jackson. Community figures, clergy, and Savannah State University representatives joined State Rep. Carl Gilliard to celebrate her decades of service before a motorcade to the newly named interchange.
