1. Woman with autism assaulted at hospital. Guardian says staff never told her (wsbtv.com) — A young woman with autism was allegedly sexually assaulted by another patient at Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna, and her guardian says staff failed to act after she reported it. The guardian, speaking anonymously, says employees only had the victim write down what happened and then laughed instead of protecting her or notifying family. Authorities and hospital accountability will be closely watched by Smyrna families.
   

2. Smyrna State of the City is Sept. 29 (ledger-enquirer.com) — Smyrna residents are invited to the free State of the City address on Sept. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Smyrna Community Center, where Mayor Derek Norton will outline recent projects and future plans. Prosecutors say he secretly moved the victim's funds through fraudulent accounts, buying luxury items including a Vinings home and a costly club membership before pleading guilty to wire fraud.
