Murder Charge Filed In Death, Dismemberment Of GA Woman

SMYRNA, GA — Murder warrants reportedly shed insight into the death of a woman who police say was dismembered recently at a Smyrna apartment complex.

Smyrna Police on Saturday said 26-year-old Shanteria "KT" Mosley died between 10 a.m. and noon Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Valley Parkway.

The man charged in connection with her death, 18-year-old Kingston Bradley, faces malice murder and concealing the death of another, police said.

An official cause of death has not been released. However, murder warrants "suggests a possible stabbing (was) involved in Mosley's death," WXIA-TV reported late Monday afternoon.

Warrants state Mosley's torso "had 'various lacerations and stab wounds' and that there was "copious amounts of blood consistent with murdering Shanteria Mosley and dismembering Shanteria Mosley's body" in Bradley's apartment, WXIA-TV reported.

Body parts were found in a garbage bag lodged in the trunk of a vehicle, police said. Investigators believed the victim to be Mosley, police said.

"We did not receive any noise complaints, person screaming or suspicious activity calls that day in the area," police said in a news release.

Last week, authorities found "several areas of blood staining and a large bloody saw," as well as a "mop bucket with water and mop in addition to a carpet cleaner," inside Bradley's apartment, WXIA-TV previously reported. An odor of bleach was reportedly detected.

"This is a shocking crime," Smyrna Police Lt. Meredith Holt said about the case at a news conference held last week. "I don't know how else to describe it. ... This is a particularly gruesome crime."

What Happened?

An officer was first called to the apartment complex around 7 p.m. Wednesday after being notified of a missing person, Holt said.

The officer stayed on scene for 30 minutes, meeting with the family and knocking on doors, Holt said. The family told the officer the woman's phone pinged inside the complex, and her vehicle was located in the parking lot.

According to Holt, the officer told the family to file a missing persons report with Atlanta Police since the woman's last known location was in Atlanta.

SPD would have assisted APD had the family filed a report in Smyrna, Holt said.

Officers were called back to the scene around 8:15 p.m. after the woman's body was discovered, she said. This happened 30 minutes after the initial officer left the scene.

The witness was able to identify the person carrying a tote connected to the case after seeing which apartment he had come out of, Holt said.

The family accused Bradley of "carrying a plastic tub that contained a body" and running when he noticed the witness, WXIA-TV reported, citing warrants. A "dismembered torso" was ultimately found inside the tub, the news outlet reported.

The family told reporters they were able to identify Mosley by her tattoo. Family and friends reportedly held a vigil for her on Saturday.

It is unknown why Mosley was in the apartment complex and if she has a connection to Bradley.

Police say they are appreciative of community tips received in the case.

"The community has been reaching out and providing information about this case. We are grateful and open to leads and information," police said in the news release.
