The Crafts & Drafts Festival in Smyrna features a beer garden, kids activities, live entertainment on Oct. 24-25 (atlantaonthecheap.com) — Smyrna's rebranded Crafts & Drafts Festival is coming October 24–25 to the Village Green and City Hall area, with free admission, a beer garden, kids' activities, and over 150 arts and crafts booths. Expect live entertainment, big-screen game viewing, and plenty of food options, from fair treats to BBQ and Mexican street corn, all within easy reach of downtown Smyrna.
2. Smyrna's 'Pumpkins & Public Safety' event includes pumpkin decorating and touch-a-truck this Saturday (feedblitz.com) — Families in Smyrna can head to Smyrna First United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 10, for the Pumpkins & Public Safety event featuring pumpkin decorating and a touch-a-truck experience. Admission is a donated new winter item, helping The Tillman House and the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation stock cold-weather essentials for local families while kids enjoy treats and public safety vehicles.
3. Ribbon-cutting on tap for new, paved Chattahoochee River trail (urbanize.city) — Smyrna residents are about to gain easier access to the Chattahoochee with this week's ribbon-cutting for the new Riverview Park Trail, a paved, half-mile segment of the RiverLands project. Located off Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway near Riverview Landing, the trail will serve more than 1,000 nearby residents and eventually connect to a three-mile Cobb RiverLands Showcase corridor.
4. Birthday concert rocks downtown Smyrna (newsbreak.com) — Downtown Smyrna just hosted an estimated 30,000 people for the city's 154th birthday concert, filling the Village Green and Atlanta Road with music and crowds. Residents enjoyed performances by Tonic, Larkin Poe, and headliner Darius Rucker, who mixed his solo hits, Hootie and the Blowfish favorites, and classic covers for a long, high-energy night.
5. The Rise and Fall (and rise) of the Belmont Hills shopping center in Smyrna (newsbreak.com) — Smyrna readers get a look back at the rise, decline, and reinvention of the Belmont Hills shopping center, once billed as one of the Southeast's largest. The story traces its 1954 grand opening, years of competition and decay, demolition, and eventual rebirth as the Village of Belmont, reflecting broader changes in local shopping and growth.
