1. Cobb County Restaurant Report Card – 10/07/2026 (newsbreak.com) — Two Smyrna restaurants just received mid-range health inspection scores from the Georgia Department of Public Health, with Kuroshio Sushi Bar & Grille earning a 73 (C) and Hibachi Express an 81 (B) on October 7. Three Marietta spots earned A grades, but Smyrna diners may want to note these specific scores when deciding where to eat out this week.
2. After arrest in deadly Smyrna shooting, police seek another man (newsbreak.com) — Smyrna Police have arrested 19‑year‑old Trey Webb in connection with a July 28 fatal shooting on Atlanta Road, but are now asking residents to help identify a second man seen with him before and after the incident. Investigators believe this person has important information, and anyone who recognizes him is urged to contact Smyrna Detective Eric Schum or the police department's main line.
3. I-285 weekend closure in Smyrna and Atlanta canceled; next closure Oct. 16-19 (cobbcountycourier.com) — If you drive I‑285 through Smyrna, this weekend's full closure between South Atlanta Road and South Cobb Drive has been canceled because of expected heavy rain. However, GDOT warns that both directions will shut down next weekend, Oct. 16–19, for ongoing concrete reconstruction and safety upgrades, with work on this corridor continuing through 2029.
4. Metro Atlanta cancellations mount as Hurricane Isaias approaches Georgia (wabe.org) — Smyrna drivers get a brief break: GDOT has postponed this weekend's full I-285 lane closures in the Smyrna area to October 16–19 as Hurricane Isaias approaches. The storm is already canceling major metro Atlanta festivals and could bring heavy rain, flooding, high winds, and possible tornadoes across North and Central Georgia through Sunday.
