SNELLVILLE, GA — Police on Monday released the name of the man killed in a Snellville shooting, and also the identity of the suspect accused in the deadly incident.
Gwinnett County Police say 63-year-old Roosevelt Lovell Anderson of Scottsboro, Alabama, died in the shooting that occurred Sunday in the 3500 block of Stone Mountain Highway.
Police have identified the murder suspect as 39-year-old Stacy Davontae Clanton of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The fatal shooting occurred shortly after midnight in a parking lot in unincorporated Snellville.
Officers overheard the gunshots while patrolling the area, police said.
Anderson was found suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Officers saw Clanton fleeing from the scene and took him into custody without incident, police said.
Clanton faces charges of murder and aggravated assault, and remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Jail, police said.
A motive in the shooting was not revealed.
