Resurgens Orthopaedics Physician Named to U.S.A Track & Field Georgia Association Panel

Dr. Shaun L. Traub Joins Panel of Experts Who Will be Preferred Providers at Georgia Track and Field Events

April 8, 2011 (Snellville) — Resurgens Orthopaedics physician Dr. Shaun L. Traub was named to a new panel of the U.S.A. Track & Field (USATF) Georgia Association that will provide care for athletes competing in Georgia events.

Dr. Traub, who practices at the Resurgens Snellville and Decatur offices, is the orthopaedic physician on a panel of experts assembled by the association. Others on the panel include a physical therapist, a chiropractor, a pediatrician, and a massage therapist, Dr. Traub said.

USATF Georgia Association is the governing body of track and field, cross country, long distance running, and race walking in Georgia. The Georgia Association is a volunteer-driven, non-profit 501c (3) organization with over 3,600 members, 117 Youth and Adult clubs, and more than 170 certified officials. The group’s mission is to further the sport of track and field by providing quality competition for youth, open, and master athletes, from grassroots to the Olympic Games.

“As members of the panel, we will volunteer at events such as the Georgia Junior Olympics and be on the list of preferred medical providers for the athletes,” Dr. Traub said.

Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick, co-president of Resurgens, said she welcomes Dr. Traub’s involvement in Georgia track and field events and is pleased that the practice can help promote safety in athletic competition.

Dr. Traub ran track and cross country as an undergraduate at the University of Georgia and was state champion in high school events and in the Junior Olympics.

Dr. Traub’s areas of expertise include arthroscopic and reconstruction of the shoulder and knee, arthroscopy of the hip, knee, and elbow, sports medicine, and general orthopaedics. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, and completed his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.
