Back to School: By the Numbers

Gwinnett County students will return to school on August 8, in a little over two weeks. There will be new changes for students, a number of schools and educators. Get ready, get set, learn!

By the Numbers:

23,500,000: Miles driven in a year by Gwinnett County school buses

162,459: Total number of students expected at the start of the 2011-2012 school year. Gwinnett County is the state's largest school district.

1,834: Number of that will transport students. Practice runs for buses begins August 1, so expect to see them traveling through a neighborhood near you.

1,700: New students enrolled and ready to start school

530: New teachers expected to start the 2011-2012 school year. A special orientation for new teachers will start on their first day July 25.

160: Students signed up for the district

133: Facilities that will be operational for the new school year

6: Number of schools with new start times: Moore Middle in Lawreceville will start at 9:20 a.m., Duluth High will start at 7:20 a.m., Parkview High in Lilburn will start at 7:24 a.m., GIVE Center East will start at 7 a.m., New Life Academy of Excellence will start at 8 a.m. and Hooper Renwick School will start at 7:10 a.m.
