No Support For Transpo Tax ...
Not having some serious Mass Transit in the defeated tax was a major mistake. As a state, we miss out on Federal dollars. Lots of them.
When I first read the projects for the recently defeated tax for transportation in metro Atlanta...I thought where's the beef? There was no real solution for the traffic problem, but there was a continuation of the problem.
Mass transit...it really works. Driving downtown with one person in each car is just plain backwards. Back in the early '90s,we voted against MARTA in Gwinnett and that was just plain racist.
This loss was because the plan was only going to feed the current batch of highway contracting good ole boys. If the good ole boys would just buy an interest in a light rail company or a high speed rail company we would have mass transit ... yesterday.

If the plan had included some progressive smart systems that moved people there would have been some backing for the plan. Such a thing is hard to get when there are only the GOP running the state.
