Brookwood Brings Home Cross Country Title

Broncos have four runners place in the top 10 to win the boys championship; girls team places third.

It was a runaway for in the state Class AAAAA boys cross country meet Saturday in Carrollton.

Four runners finished in the top 10 individually — including second-place Morgan Malanoski (15 minutes, 59.98 seconds, five kilometers) — as the Broncos dominated the field. Brookwood finished with 32 points for its five best finishers, well ahead of Mill Creek, which finished second with 142 points.

Other Brookwood finishers: Gabe Gomez, third, 16:05.03; Matthew McClintock, fifth, 16:13.08; Matt Barudin, 10th, 16:20.65; Kevin Marsh, 14th, 16:29.74.

Shiloh's Brian Kamau was sixth individually in a time of 16:13.75.

Brookwood's girls were third behind winner Walton and Harrison. Caroline Kissel was fifth individually with a time of 19:16.47.
