Habetler said his grandfather was an avid gardener and left him $250 to be used for a gardening project when he passed away. It was during a trip to Briscoe Park, where the community garden is located, that Habetler said he knew where β and how - to spend the $250.
βThis is in honor of my grandfather,β Habetler said Saturday. βSince there really isnβt a place near me for a garden, I think this (location) was perfect.β

Kurt Schulz, who manages the garden and was helping Habetler Saturday, said the new beds are a welcome addition.
βItβs good to see all these young people β itβs a combined effort,β he said. βItβs all for the good of the garden.β
A pavilion is also being built at the garden as a place for educational demonstrations and should be completed within a month.
