Family Displaced by Fire Needs Help

A mother and her ten children are in need of assistance following a fire that destroyed their home on Sunday.

Kathryn Clarke and her ten children are in need of the public's help, following a and all their belongings.

Clarke is a driver with Gwinnett County Public Schools and works directly in the , and has been employed there for about a year and a half, according to Cindy Panchoo, a team leader with area's school transportation office. Clarke's ten children -- five boys and five girls ranging in age from 4 to 17 -- attend local Snellville schools.

On April 29, the mother and her children escaped a fire at their Zoar Church Road home that . Fire officials determined the blaze was accidental, and that no one was hurt. The home, however, was a total loss.

Several groups, including local , the Shiloh Community Foundation and the Centerville Business Association are stepping up to help.

"She's very active in the schools," Panchoo said. "She's one of our own."

The groups are asking that members of community consider making donations of clothes, school supplies, personal items, and other things that the family may be able to use. In addition, monetary donations -- in a sealed evelope marked "Clarke Family" -- also are being accepted.

Any donations are welcome.

Donations can be dropped off Shiloh-area schools at the front offices, or at on . Monetary donations should be made out to "Kathryn Clarke," Panchoo said.

For donations made to the schools, organizers are asking that any clothes be boxed up. For donations made to Shane's Rib Shack, organizers are asking that donations be made by Friday.
