UPDATE: Firefighters Respond to House Fire on Country Farms Drive
Snellville Patch was in the neighborhood when firefighters got a call for a blaze on Country Farms Drive. We drove over to capture some of the activity.
No injuries were reported, but there was extensive damage to a home on Country Farms Drive following an afternoon fire.
Firefighters arrived to the 3000 block ofk Country Farms Drive shortly before 12:30 p.m., when they encountered heavy flames in the garage area and smoke billowing from the single-story home, according to a press statement from Capt. Tommy Rutledge.
"Firefighters worked fast and kept the fire from spreading to the main part of the house," Rutledge said in the release. "The blaze caused extensive damage to the garage and a bonus room above the garage."

A grandmother and teenage grandson were home at the time of the fire, and they escaped unharmed. The grandson was reportedly watching television in the garage when he saw flames, fire officials said.
"He tried to put the fire out with a garden hose and a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful," Rutledge said.

The two residents are displaced because of the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and being investigated.
