Former Bulldog Launches Family Foundation

SNELLVIlLLE, GA -- Former UGA and NFL football star David Pollack, a graduate of Shiloh High School in Snellville, launched a family foundation geared toward fighting childhood obesity on Wednesday.

The Pollack Family Foundation will partner with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and C.H.O.I.C.E.S., a Georgia-based nonprofit also geared toward helping children make healthy life choices, Pollack and his wife, Lindsey, announced Wednesday.

Children’s Healthcare’s Strong4Life program has a similar focus.

“Lindsey and I are very passionate about this cause and we know through our partners, Strong4Life and C.H.O.I.C.E.S. that we will be able to make a lasting difference,” Pollack, now a college-football analyst for ESPN, said in a news release.

According to the news release, the Pollack foundation will be built on three pillars -- ”Whole,” “Life” and “Health.”

“Partnering with the Pollack Family Foundation will help Children’s continue its important work to impact Georgia families through our Strong4Life programming, including training physicians, school cafeteria managers and arming parents with the daily facts, tips and resources they need to sustain healthy habits at home,” Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta CEO Linda Matzigkeit said in the release.

“We are honored to be chosen as a beneficiary of The Pollack Family Foundation and we look forward to working with David and Lindsey on this critical issue facing Georgia’s children.”
