Four Teens Arrested For Girl's Sexual Assault Near School

The 16-year-old girl's rape was video-recorded and shared around school, Snellville Police say.

Snellville, GA — Four teenagers are accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl near South Gwinnett High School last month, then sharing a video recording of the attack around school.

Three of the four teens are charged with a single count of rape, and the fourth, 17-year-old Cameron Richard, is charged with rape and possession of child pornography.

Police did not release the names of the three other suspects — two 15-year-olds and one 16-year-old — because they are juveniles. In Georgia, 17-year-olds are often charged as adults.

Snellville Police Chief Roy Whitehead said the May 4 incident started when a group of teens went to a school bus lot on Skyland Drive in Snellville, with at least some of them intending to do drugs.

"While under the influence of drugs, the victim was sexually assaulted," Whitehead said in an email Tuesday.

The chief did not say what drugs were involved or whether the victim was given a drug she didn't intend to take.

Whitehead said that during the course of their investigation, police discovered the video, which had been circulated to some extent around South Gwinnett High School. Police continue to investigate how far the video spread, said Whitehead.

Richard was arrested June 5 and is being held without bond on the rape and pornography charges. He also faces a charge of theft by receiving as well as another unnamed charge from the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.
