Freebies, Food and Fun at Academy Sports Grand Opening Celebration

Freebies, food and fun will fill the Academy Sports + Outdoors location this weekend for the official grand opening celebration.

The store opened in Snellville on July 1. Already the store has hosted a special shopping spree for children in the

Grand opening festivities begin on Friday, July 15, with the first 100 customers of the day getting a free pair of Crocs. (You have to be 18 years old or older.) Chick-fil-A will also be providing lunch at noon to the first 350 customers.

On Saturday, July 16:
The first 3,500 customers will receive a free Academy Sports + Outdoors T-shirt. Children will also be able to fish for free in the Shakespeare catfish catch tank. There will also be a special appearance by Darren Gallaher, a well-known professional bass angler and guide. Gallaher will be there from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and again noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 17.

On Sunday, July 17:
At 9 a.m., the first 100 customers will receive a free Adidas basketball. Beginning at noon, there will also be free hot dogs and water while supplies last. In addition, Atlanta Braves centerfielder Otis Nixon will be there from 1 p.m.-2 p.m.
