Grayson High Taking Additional Security Measures After 'Unsubstantiated' Threats

Grayson High has taken additional security measures Friday (Nov. 8) after rumors have circulated about a possible threat to the school.

Gwinnett County Public Schools called the threat 'unsubstantiated' on its Facebook page, though. Spokesman Jorge Quintana released the following statement to Patch:

"Grayson High is aware of rumors circulating regarding a possible threat to the school. As with all rumors, there are a lot of variations, but it appears most of them are tied to an incident that apparently occurred outside of school last week. School leaders have investigated and were not able to substantiate the rumors. That said, Grayson High is taking additional security measures-- including an increased police presence on campus-- today throughout the day.

"In checking with the school and police it has been a quiet day."

Despite the added security, the school is not on lockdown. 

A source told Patch many kids stayed home today or were checked out because of the possible threat.

In nearby Lawrenceville, Archer High officials sent out a statement to squash rumors about any possible threat at its school, too.
