Investigators: Fire At Snellville House Was Arson

A neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the vacant home, which was badly damaged inside.

SNELLVILLE, GA -- A fire at a vacant Snellville house Tuesday morning was set intentionally, investigators say.

Firefighters responded at about 9:10 a.m. Tuesday to a neighbor's report of smoke coming from a house in the 3400 block of Palisade Court SW, in unincorporated Snellville.

They found an active fire in the interior of the single-story, wood frame house, and quickly extinguished it.

The fire, however, caused extensive damage to the interior of the home. No one was in the house at the time of the blaze and no one was injured.

But investigators were called because of evidence of arson, Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services said in a news release.

Investigators are not releasing details about the evidence they've found, other than to say it appears the fire was intentional.

Georgia Arson Control, Inc. offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for arson.
