LinkedIn to Users: Change Passwords Now

Users with compromised accounts should get an email about changing their passwords.

LinkedIn confirmed Wednesday, that yes, passwords were compromised in a security breach, according to published reports.

According to a report on TODAYonline, 6.4 million passwords were compromised.

"We are continuing to investigate this situation," Vicente Silveira, an engineering director there, was quoted in TODAYonline as saying.

Silveira said the site -- used as a professional social networking site -- was hacked. The company mentioned steps the company is taking to deal with the breach, including sending emails to those with hacked accounts, according to a report on PC World.

In addition, users will notice their normal LinkedIn account passwords are not valid anymore, the report said.
