Man Charged in Church Arson, Burglary

David Stone is accused of committing burglary and arson at Zoar United Methodist Church.

A suspected arsonist has now been charged in last week's fire at .

David Wayne Stone, 23, is charged with burglary, arson and vandalism to a place of worship in the Zoar UMC fire. Each of the charges are felonies.

The fire happened in the early morning hours of Feb. 24. No was injured, and working sprinklers prevented the fire from causing any major damage.

In addition to the aforementioned arson, burglary and vandalism charges, Stone is accused in a series of other incidents the night of the Zoar UMC fire.

Those charges include: two more counts of burglary (felonies), two counts of second-degree criminal damage of property (felonies), theft by shoplifting (a misdemeanor) and violation of probation (a misdemeanor).
