Remember when you played outside until your Mom called you in because it was too dark to see in front of your face? I do, and that was when we played freeze tag, red light/green light and red rover/red rover! Yes, I am dating myself, but those were truely the best days! When you had to come inside there were other things to occupy your time, putting models together! When was the last time you did that? Our kids today often don't realize what it is to build something from start to finish and then have the accomplishment of time well spent! The computer games have turned the majority of our youth into kids with instant gratification, no trouble shooting skills and no eye for details! It is up to us adults to show them another alternative to computer games! Doing models gives you the ability to figure things out, read, follow instructions and releases stress at the same time...and as an added bonus, gives you one on one time with your kids no matter how old or young they are...Just something to think about.
