Rescuers Search For Snellville Man Missing on Lake Lanier

Jerry Kornmeier's empty boat was found just outside of "Cocktail Cove."

The search for a Snellville man who went missing on Lake Lanier on Saturday continued Monday. But, as of about 4 p.m., it continued to drag on with no success.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and Hall County Sheriff's Office, with boat support from the Forsyth County's sheriff, were using radar technology seeking Jerry Kornmeier, 57, of Snellville.

Kornmeier went missing around 5 p.m. on Saturday, according to a news release from the Department of Natural Resources.

Park rangers were called to look for him in the "Cocktail Cove" area.

Rangers found Kornmeier's empty boat adrift in open water just outside the cove, but no sign of him. A preliminary search of the cover and surrounding areas Saturday, and further searching on Sunday, yielded no results.

The search resumed at 9 a.m. Monday and was ongoing Monday afternoon, DNR officials said.
