Scout-Built Garden Beds Available to Rent

Eagle Scout Michael Habetler and a crew of Scouts built six raised gardening beds at the Community Garden @Snellville.

Now they need to be filled by renters, organizers said.

The 4-by-12-foot beds may be filled with soil and the renter may add organic amendments as desired. The Community Garden rental year is April 1 through March 30, so the beds will be rented for half the annual rate of $50 for a Snellville resident and $65 for those living outside city limits. Those who rent these beds will have first option to rent for the year that will begin on April 1, 2015.

Officials said it is a great time to start planting cool-weather crops like lettuces, kale, collards and cabbage.
