Second Suspect Arrested in Snellville Pizza Worker's Death

SNELLVILLE, GA -- A second suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of a Snellville pizza worker.

Ty Roderick Stewart was booked into Gwinnett County Jail shortly before 5 a.m. on Monday, charged with murder in the death of 40-year-old Robert Purcell.

Tremaine Washington, 18, had been arrested Sunday afternoon in connection with Purcell's death.

Purcell had last been seen in the parking lot of Marco's Pizza, at 3300 Centerville Hwy., on Thursday. Co-workers said he was known to sleep in his vehicle there on nights before he worked.

Police officers located some of his belongings in the parking lot, but were unable to find him.

Later that day, members of the Gwinnett County Police Department found Purcell’s vehicle parked on the exit ramp from Highway 78 westbound to Hugh Howell Road, near Stone Mountain.

Purcell was found inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound that did not appear self-inflicted.

Investigators say they believe robbery was the motive in the killing.

Stewart, of Snellville, is charged with murder and armed robbery in the case. Washington faces charges of murder and aggravated assault.
