Sen. Don Balfour Suspended From Office

The state senator from Snellville was indicted on 18 counts relating to misusing his legislative expense account in September.

After being indicted on 18 counts relating to misusing hisΒ legislative expense accountΒ in September,Β Georgia Sen. Don Balfour (R-Snellville) has been suspended from office.Β 

According to the Gwinnett Daily Post, aΒ review panel unanimously approved his suspension Wednesday (Nov. 13). The panel includedΒ leaders in the General Assembly, and the action was carried out by Gov. Nathan Deal.Β 

He also was removed from several boards and committees, includingΒ the Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee,Β the Health andΒ Human Services Committee, the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee and theΒ Senate State Fair Tax Study Committee.
