Snellville Developing New Town Center

SNELLVIlLE, GA -- Snellville’s town council took a big step toward creating a new design for the town center area.

On Monday, the council voted to spend $40,000 with a firm that will create a detailed plan for developing the heart of the city’s downtown.

City officials say that interest in the area has sparked again, after something of a slow patch during a tough economic climate in recent years.

“We’re talking about commercial, retail, residential,” said City Manager Butch Sanders, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

He said the new plans will include storm water drainage, land planning, engineering and other issues.

Newly elected Mayor Tom Witts campaigned on revitalizing Snellville’s town center.

“We are determined to deliver and we have a lot of interest from outside developers,” he told the crowd gathered for the meeting, according to the Daily Post.
