Snellville Man Killed When Mother Loses Control of Truck, Hits Him

Police say the man and his mother were in the process of moving into a home in unincorporated Snellville.

Snellville, GA — A man moving into a home in Snellville was killed Sunday when his mother lost control of a truck, hitting him and then a neighboring house.

Gwinnett County Police say Rashad Watson, 29, was standing between a residence and a truck being driven by his mother, 64-year-old Rita Watson, at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday. They were in the process of moving into 3275 Highpoint Court in unincorporated Snellville, and Rita Watson was driving 2006 Chevrolet Colorado with a trailer attached.

She lost control of the truck and lurched forward on a downhill grade, police say. The truck struck Rashad Watson, then continued downhill, crashing into 3273 Highpoint Court, the neighboring rental unit. The residents of that home were inside at the time, but all of them were upstairs and no one was injured.
