Snellville Man Busted for Attempting to Cash $2K Fake Check
The man told police that he received the check in the mail from someone in London. He was instructed to cash the check, buy paintings for the British man and keep $400 for himself.

A Snellville man was arrested last month after trying to cash a fake check for $1,950 at a gas station.
According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the incident occcured around 3:55 p.m. Feb. 22, at the Exxon gas station at 2100 Killian Hill Rd.
An employee told police that the suspect, 22-year-old Kefing Jackman-Sutherland, went to the gas station to cash the check. She contacted the bank about the check, and they said the account associated with it was no good.

The suspect told police that he had received the check in the mail from someone in London after he answered an online ad. Jackman-Sutherland said that he was instructed to cash the check, buy various paintings for the British man and keep $400 for himself.
Jackman-Sutherland was charged with forgery in the third degree and the check was placed into evidence.

The report also states that the suspect had previously taken the check to a Bank of America and was informed that the check was possibly no good.
