Snellville Police Officer Nearly Run Over By Suspect

SNELLVILLE, GA -- A Snellville Police officer is recovering after nearly being run over by a suspect she had been questioning.
WSB-TV reports that Sgt. Rain Nieddu was questioning an 18-year-old over the weekend about allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl in a park when he suddenly took off in his car.
In video from her body camera, Nieddu tells the teen, Kevin Hill, "You guys can't be having sex in the park."

Hill insists the two were just kissing. But when Nieddu asks for their identification, he takes off, dragging both the officer and his passenger with his car.
Nieddu became trapped between the open door and the car, police say.

"She fell off the car and was nearly run over by the car," Snellville police Chief Roy Whitehead told WSB. "His female passenger was drug on the other side of the car by the door being open on her side."
Hill then led officers on a chase through two counties, much of it with a blown-out tire, police said.
At one point, while he was driving across a ditch, police say they say Hill toss marijuana out of his car.
Ultimately, police spun the car out and arrested Hill, who is being held without bond on charges including aggravated assault on a police officer.
Both Nieddu and the 16-year-old girl suffered bruises and other minor injuries but are expected to be OK, police said.
