Snellville Woman Dies in Car Crash

U'Lawnda R. Lewis, 40, died at the scene of a head-on collision Friday.

A 40-year-old Snellville womanΒ has been identified as the driver killed in a car crash over the weekend nearΒ Grayson.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report,Β atΒ around 10:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 1),Β a pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic andΒ slammed headfirstΒ into U’Lawnda R. Lewis' carΒ on Highway 78 near Haynescrest Drive. She died at the scene.Β 

A 17-year-old passengerΒ in Lewis' carΒ was transported to the hospital after receiving a head laceration. He is believed to be her son,Β according toΒ the Gwinnett Daily Post.Β Charges against the truck's driver,Β Loganville resident Thomas Embry, were still being investigated as of Monday (Nov. 4).Β 

Lewis wasΒ preceded in death by her mother and is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Lewis Sr., of 10 years, according to her obituary. Read her full obituary on Patch.
