Windows 8 - Trouble That Can Be Fixed

It seems every other version of Windows that Microsoft puts out has more flaws than people are willing to endure. Windows 8 is definitely one of those versions. It might not be bad for a tablet or touch-pad computer, however for all of us used to a mouse and keyboard interface it is downright stinky. There are solutions to your Windows 8 blues. The best one is to downgrade to Windows 7. That's right, you can install Windows 7 over top of your Windows 8 computer.

There are a few tricks you will need to get around however if the computer is designed for Windows 8. You will need the drivers disk so Windows 7 knows how to use all of the features of your system. You may have to order this disk from the manufacturer of your computer.

Another thing you would have to check is the BIOS of the computer. Some systems have settings in the pre-boot directions that make it difficult to run anything other than Windows 8, but usually there are ways to disable those settings.

The most important thing to do before installing Windows 7 or any other operating system on your computer is to back up anything you don't want to lose. Usually, installing an operating system like Windows 7 will erase the hard drive in the process of setting itself up. Check out my previous article on back-ups. http://snellville.patch.com/groups/computer-corner/p/bad-weather-can-lead-to-data-loss

The installation process itself is fairly straightforward, but be sure to know what the terms are as they ask you questions during the install.
