A woman was arrested and charged with murder Monday after fatally stabbing her mother and telling police it was suicide, police say.

SNELLVILLE, GA — A woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and felony murder Monday after fatally stabbing her mother and telling police it was a suicide, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Jacquelyn Craft, 35, was arrested after killing her 65-year-old mother Evelyn Craft, police say. She told Gwinnett County Police officers who responded to a report of a death at 3809 Leach Road, in Snellville, at about 11:30 p.m., that her mother had committed suicide by stabbing herself. Responding officers located the victim deceased from apparent stab wounds. Both women lived in the same home.
Responding officers found the circumstances suspicious and contacted Homicide Unit detectives. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit investigated further and found evidence which contradicted Jacquelyn Craft’s story. She remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
