Woman Seriously Injured, Dog Missing After Crash

Investigators in Snellville Friday were still trying to determine why a woman swerved into oncoming traffic and hit the victim and her dog.

SNELLVILLE, GA -- A Snellville woman was seriously injured and her dog is missing after she was hit by a car Thursday.

Gwinnett County Police say Tiffany Hayes, 31, of Snellville was driving west on Bethany Church Road near Brannan Road as Georgette Stovall, 51, also of Snellville, was walking her dog on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the roadway.

Hayes, in a 2009 Honda CRV witha 7-year-old boy in the backseat, traveled across the center line and onto the curb, where she struck Stovall and her dog, Ali.

Stovall was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with what police are calling very serious injuries.

Ali, her dog, remained missing Friday. It was not known if the dog survived its injuries from the crash. Anyone who sees her is asked to call the police department's non-emergency number at (770) 513-5700.

Investigators on Friday were still trying to determine why Hayes swerved into opposing traffic and hit Stovall. They say it does not appear to have been an intentional act.

She had not been charged as of Friday afternoon.
