Yard Sign Honors Fallen Police Officers: Report
With this week's fatal incident in Americus, a Snellville city councilman says he wants to remind the public of their sacrifices.

SNELLVILLE, GA — A city councilman is raising public awareness about the dangers faced by police officers with a sign that he's posted on his front lawn, according to a media report.
The sign put up by Bobby Howard pays homage to the eight Georgia police officers who have died this year in the line of duty, according to WXIA-TV 11Alive. That includes the two officers — Nicholas Smarr and Jody Smith — who were shot to death this week in the town of Americus when they responded to a domestic disturbance.
Howard's sign lights up every time an officer is killed in the line of duty. He told 11Alive that he put up the sign in October, and it will remain there for years to come.
