• Second Lawsuit Targets Effingham IDA Over OpenAI Data Center (effinghamherald.net) — Residents in and around Springfield face a second lawsuit over the massive OpenAI "Project Camellia" data center, this time accusing the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority of violating Georgia's open-meetings and open-records laws. The suit challenges how land was sold and incentives discussed, arguing neighbors weren't properly informed or allowed to participate before decisions that could affect schools, utilities, and nearby neighborhoods.
   

• Springfield donation drive helps Guyton family after house fire (wjcl.com) — Springfield residents can help a Guyton family who lost their home and cars in a house fire by donating essentials at Olde Towne Barbers on North Laurel Street. The shop is collecting food, clothing, gift cards, toiletries, and pet supplies, and donors are entered to win a free haircut while the family temporarily stays in a hotel rebuilding their lives.
