• DeKalb School Board to approve ESPLOST overpayment plan (decaturish.com) — Stone Mountain families should know DeKalb's school board meets Sept. 14 on Mountain Industrial Boulevard to approve a plan repaying $11.9 million in ESPLOST overpayments and to advance Interim Superintendent Norman Sauce as permanent leader. The board will also weigh a new policy limiting law enforcement access to students, honor two influential educators, and review redistricting, screen time rules, and major facilities contracts.
   

• 'We definitely need police': Festivalgoers worry about shrinking police department (wsbtv.com) — Visitors to Stone Mountain Park's Yellow Daisy Festival say they're worried about safety as the park's police force has reportedly shrunk from 18 to eight officers, with more departures possible. The police union fears the Stone Mountain Memorial Association may disband the department, and has asked the governor to intervene, while some festivalgoers say fewer officers could affect whether they return.
