• Stone Mountain seeks to increase hotel-motel tax to 8% (decaturish.com) — Stone Mountain leaders are moving to seek state approval to raise the city's hotel-motel tax from 5% to 8%, potentially generating up to $20,000 more each year for tourism promotion. At the same meeting, the council backed a major grant bid for VFW Park upgrades and a partnership with DeKalb County to tackle trash, panhandling, and safety issues along Memorial Drive near city entrances.
