Atlanta Police to Graduate 31 New Officers

Department moves toward goal of 2,000 total officers

The Atlanta Police Department will welcome 31 new officers this week.

The latest group to finish training will officially graduate on Wednesday, June 6, at 7 p.m. at City Hall Atrium, 55 Trinity Ave.

These new graduates will bring the total number of police officers in the city to 1,915.

The department will need to hire at least 85 more officers to reach the goal of 2,000 total sworn officers on the force by the end of 2013.

In 2012 to date, APD has hired 126 officers.
