Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Taylor English Duma To Host Screening of American Winter

The Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Taylor English Duma LLP are hosting a special showing of the documentary film American Winter.

The Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Taylor English Duma LLP are hosting a special showing of the documentary film American Winter on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema in Atlanta.

AVLF’s first “Movie Night” is meant to spark a dialogue about poverty in America and Atlanta. The film, directed by Emmy award-winning filmmakers Joe and Harry Gantz, presents an intimate portrait of families who have seen their lives altered by the Great Recession and its aftermath. The movie dispels stereotypes about who makes up the ranks of the poor in our country, how they got there and the consequences of the shrinking of our country’s middle class.

“As the income disparity gap in America becomes more noticeable, it is important for us to take a step back and understand why this is happening and how it is impacting American families,” said Michael Lucas, deputy director of the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. “American Winter is an extremely powerful showing of hard facts and personal stories that compel viewers to discuss the fracturing of the American Dream and ways we can work toward a healthier and safer Atlanta.”
