Burr & Forman Boosts Banking and Real Estate Practice

Michelle Mersey Joins Burr & Forman's Atlanta Office

Burr & Forman LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Michelle L. Mersey as an associate in the firm’s Atlanta office. She joins Burr & Forman’s Banking and Real Estate practice group, and is one of more than 20 attorneys starting across the firm’s Southeastern footprint.

Mersey advises clients on the negotiation and lender financing of merger acquisition transactions, lender portfolio sales, and structuring and documentation of commercial loan transactions that are both multi-jurisdictional and multi-lender syndicated. She previously practiced in London where she handled a range of international matters, managing projects throughout Europe, Asia and in Australia. Mersey has also represented landlords, tenants, owners and lenders in a range of matters related to commercial real estate, including commercial office leasing and asset management, retail leasing, real estate development, and real estate acquisitions and dispositions.

In addition to her legal practice, Mersey is also very active in projects aimed at assisting low-income populations. Through the Saturday Morning Lawyer Program from the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Mersey counsels low-income clients on matters related to consumer debt, land-lord tenant disputes and unpaid wage claims.

Mersey earned her undergraduate degree from Emory University, her master’s degree from the University of Oxford, and her law degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law.
